In the video, Moran was made to ask a ransom of one crore rupees on behalf of the ULFA militants. The state police swung into the action but failed to trace the boy. Moran said in the video that he was blindfolded and was not feeling well and requested his father, mother and Chief Minister of Assam to get him released. Anup Chetia, General Secretary of Ulfa denied ULFA link. Ratnaswer is a small time leader of BJP Party and he doesn't have 1 crore to pay as ransom, as said by Chetia to CNN News18. Dev Mahanta, SP of Tinsukia confirmed the ULFA link with the issue.ULFA's eastern command is behind the act, as said by Mahanta to CNN New18.

ULFA demands 1 crore Ransom
On August 1, ULFA militants abducted Kuldeep Moran, son of Tinsukia Zilla Parishad's vice president Ratnaswer. After 20 days, a video showing the victim surrounded by gunmen who were masked was leaked with a demand for 1 crore rupess as ransom for Moran's release.
