Chennai floods: Edited Modi pics sparks online mockery Featured

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tour to the devastated Chennai brought online mockery to state run Press Information Bureau. The bureau at first tweeted a picture of Mr Modi looking through a plane window, with submerged city.

 Hours later, they retweeted the same image agian buth with much clearer but inexpertly pasted on to the window. The second tweet was deleted but not in time to prevent social media derision. The PIB has made no public comment yet. Some saw the deleted tweet as relief, but other criticised it as inappropriate amid the great tragedy. Others also shared their own edited Modi pictures in mockery to PIB. It is not the first time Mr Modi has fallem victim to some image editing.

Before Mr Modi became prime minister, a fake photograph dipicting US president Barack Obama watching one of his speeches went viral.Commentators on Twitter suggested the picture was posted by a supporter of Modi to imply the US prez was following Mr Modi's election campaign. Mr Modi went to Chennai in Tamil Nadu state on Thursday to see the destruction caused by the flooding, that left more than 300 people dead since November. A large-scale rescur effort is under way, amid neck-hing water in some areas.
