UP Home Guards Protest: Home Guards write Letter to PM Modi with Blood

Ghaziabad: Uttar Pradesh (UP) home guards who have been protesting seeking salaries hike and other benefits, on Wednesday wrote letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others with their blood.

The protesting home guards demanded hike in their salaries or permission for mercy killing (killing themselves).Vice President of Uttar Pradesh Honorary Home Guards Association (UPHHGA) sujit Kumar Giri addressing the protesting home guards said that about 500 home guards were abstained from their duties to press for their demand of salary hike and other benefits.Giri said that the home guards had written letters with their blood to the Prime Minister, Central Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and several others seeking hike in salaries and perks which are being enjoyed by the home guards of other states.

Home guards in Uttar Pradesh are getting a daily salary as low as Rs 300 per day whereas home gurads in other states like Telangana and Punjab are getting Rs 500 per day, Giri said.Earlier this year, in February,2016 nearly 12,000 home guards of 10 districts of western Uttar Pradesh went on strike demanding salary hike. Again on Wednesday,the home guards took another step and wrote blood letters to PM Modi and several others demanding equal wages or permssion for mercy killing.Uttar Pradesh's home guard department is the country's biggest disciplinary force with 1,17,443 members approximately.
