DFWAC-UN organises "Orange Campaign" for violence against women

Domestic violence is not just physical, it was the message to curious audience who entered the orange container placed on The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence in Dubai. Inside the container there is a platform to understand the violence against women and its impact on society through victims audio tapes.

 The campaign was organized by Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) to raise awareness about what violence against women is.The platform presents a soundtrack of a woman telling her terrible experience of how she was tortured and how she got life back. After listening to sad stories of victims, audience are encouraged to contact the DFWAC for help, whether they are suffers or they are in touch with the victims. The stories in container explains all types of violence against women, including verbal, physical, sexual and financial. The message clarifies it is wrong to endure the torture for good of family instead of facing the problem. It is the first time, a campaign about violence against women was organized in Dubai.

 The DFWAC launched the program with United Nations to raise awareness in UAE society. Afra Al Basti, director of DFWAC, thanked all the supporters of the campaign who defending their international efforts in fighting violence against women.Afra said, “There is no country in the world free of violence against women,”. “Organizing this campaign in the UAE doesn’t mean it is a phenomenon in society, but it comes in the frame of promoting the efforts of supporting, protecting and empowering women.” The foundation can be available via its helpline, 800111, or email, This email address is being protected from spambots.
